LINERS, HELMET M1 (Infantry Liner)
What
is offered?
We
are offering variations of the "High Pressure" liner. The high pressure liners are the most commonly found
WWII helmet liners. Within the family of high pressure
liners are numerous variations. We have placed the
common variations in three chronological categories, below:
- Early War materials
include: Webbing kit made of cotton HBT
(herringbone-twill) material. "A" shaped
washers made of steel and set with steel rivets.
- Mid-War materials include:
Webbing kit of cotton HBT. "A"
shaped washers made of bare steel painted olive drab and set with steel rivets.
- Late-War materials include:
Webbing kit of cotton HBT. "A" washers made of brass
(blackened) and set with brass rivets.
These
categories are merely meant to serve as guides. One the
greatest joys of collecting WWII liners is finding the
"oddball" liner built with materials that disrupt any
attempt to categorize them chronologically! One
fact prevails: anything produced
later in the war could
and will contain materials made earlier in the war.
Frequently
asked questions:
- Can I choose the liner
manufacturer?
No – and we
aren't just being mean. The reason we cannot accommodate
this request is simple: we simply cannot maintain an adequate
stock of ALL manufacturers. Most of our liners are
Westinghouse.
- Are ALL of your liners from
the WWII era?
No. Most are -- but not all. We have several hundred
that are postwar. These are typically made by CAPAC and webbed by
WESTINGHOUSE, hence they are double stamped. They are exactly the same as WWII liners.
3. Do you use U.S. style
liners made by other countries?
NO! NO! NO!
4. Will you sell the original
liners you have pictured?
Sorry the original liners are not for sale, so please don't ask.
5. Are your liners perfect in everyway, with no defects
of any kind?
NO! Remember we use ONLY original U.S. made WWII and Korean
era liners.
Therefore they may have defects. Such as; small chips and
nicks in the rim
and repaired rivet holes
or punctures. We use the
BEST liners available
to
us. We DON'T sluff off crappy liners on our customers, but we do use liners
with
slight signs of use.
