Brief History
We began restoring WWII U.S. Helmets in the year 2000 after a lifelong interest in WWII. Maybe it was the many hours spent listening to Grandfather’s wartime stories that fueled such an avid interest in this era of history. At any rate, we ended up specializing in U.S. helmets after buying one at the little-known Military Vehicle Show and Swap Meet in Iola, Wisconsin.
The rest is history, as we now have a full inventory of helmets and liners plus thousands of dollars worth of restoration equipment. Our focus is to provide helmets to the re-enacting and collecting community, although we have also built helmets for friends, through personal referrals, on Ebay and this Website.
We really enjoy the “bull sessions” we have with fellow enthusiasts. It is very rewarding to satisfy the needs of WWII Combat Veterans and their families. We also restore helmets for museums and teachers of military history. In all of this we strive to keep the WWII era alive and in the forefront of world history.
What a time to have lived, loved, and died! Let’s never forget the price these men and women paid to preserve freedom and humanity! Thank you, Veterans, worldwide. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
Why do we call ourselves J.Murray Inc. 1944?
Well…that is the fun part! We noticed that most WWII field gear items, uniforms, and helmet accessories have markings typically including the date, the Quarter Master contract number, and the manufacturer. We have operated under a few different business names since our inception, but finally agreed our current name most closely fits the era we are helping to recreate.
Our Goal
Our goal is to build quality helmets using as many original parts as possible, and (when necessary) the best reproduction parts we can produce or purchase. We strive to offer our helmets at an affordable price, and are hoping to build a helmet for you soon!
